Location and landscape
Kirchheim am Neckar lies in the northern part of the Ludwigsburg district in Württemberg. The Neckar forms the eastern municipal boundary; part of the municipal area lies in a former Neckar meander. In terms of natural regions, Kirchheim am Neckar belongs to the Neckar basin.
Relief and geology
The municipal area extends from 165.61 to 262.63 metres above sea level. Former northern and southern steep slopes run through the municipal territory and are used mostly for winegrowing. The Neckar valley is incised here into Muschelkalk and is accompanied by river gravels; in the higher-lying areas, older river gravels over loess are deposited.
Viticulture on the Neckar
Viticulture has shaped Kirchheim am Neckar for centuries and continues to be an essential part of the landscape. The local winegrowing area includes terraced steep vineyards above the Kirchheim Neckar meander; among them is the vineyard Kirchberg.
WeinKultur Kirchheim
The municipal project WeinKultur Kirchheim cultivates just under three hectares of vineyard area and focuses on the care of the steep slopes. Documented, among other things, are hand-picked and must-fermented Trollinger from the 2025 vintage, as well as Pinot Noir Maître Pinot. Cuvées are developed under the names Regina, Rosa and Roberto. The Maître Pinot matured for two years in a combination of wooden cask and stainless-steel tank.
