Location at the river triangle
Gemünden am Main is located in Franconia at the confluence of the Main, the Sinn and the Franconian Saale. Scherenburg is situated on a projecting ridge between the valleys of the Main and the Franconian Saale.
Wine-growing history
Wine-growing significantly shaped the town’s historical economy. Even in the 19th century, the city’s vineyard area was extensive. The Ronkarzgarten was also created on a steep slope that had previously been used as a vineyard.
Scherenberg
In 1984, a municipal vineyard was laid out, the wine from which is referred to as Scherenberg. The Silvaner from this site is described as cool-fresh, light and fruity, with multiple layers of flavour. The grapes are developed into wine and bottled in the traditional Franconian bocksbeutel bottle.
