Location and history
Gemmingen is a municipality in the district of Heilbronn in Baden-Württemberg. It lies in the Kraichgau landscape and is assigned to the Heuchelberg area. Until 1806, Gemmingen was an independent manorial property of the Neipperg and von Gemmingen-Gemmingen families; afterwards, the town became part of Baden.
Viticulture
Gemmingen is a wine-growing municipality and belongs to the wine-growing region Württemberg, Bereich Württembergisch Unterland, Großlage Heuchelberg. The tradition of winegrowing is also reflected in the municipal coat of arms, which shows a vine shoot and grapes as symbols of the agricultural character.
Wine sites
In the legally designated single vineyard Grafenberg there are vineyards in Gemmingen as well as in other places. The single vineyard Sonnenberg comprises vineyards in Gemmingen, Schwaigern and Stetten am Heuchelberg.
