Belonging
Bibergau is an incorporated district of Dettelbach in the Kitzingen district in Lower Franconia, Bavaria. The incorporation into the town of Dettelbach came into effect on 1 July 1972.
Landscape
Southeast of Bibergau, the natural region Gäuplatten Maindreieck shapes the landscape. Extensive agricultural areas lie on a gently undulating plateau; on the slopes towards the A3 motorway there are consolidated vineyards.
Viticulture and History
Certain vineyard parcels in Bibergau are assigned in the Bavarian viticulture cadastre to the Großlage Honigberg in the Volkacher Mainschleife area. They therefore belong to the legally defined German wine-growing region Franconia.
An archival record from 1540 documents wine tithes in Bibergau in connection with the sale of the wine-tithe rights in Dettelbach by the Münsterschwarzach monastery to Würzburg bishop Konrad von Bibra.
