Viticulture and history

The vineyard site Bischofsberg is listed in Arnstein and several of Arnstein’s districts. It belongs to the designated winegrowing region Franconia, Middle Main area, and to the large vineyard Roßtal. Historical records name viticulture in Halsheim already for the year 770 and for Arnstein around 70 hectares of vineyard area in 1705. In the 19th and early 20th century, vineyard areas declined sharply due to phylloxera as well as true and false mildew; afterwards, grafted vines were introduced and viticulture instruction in the Arnstein area was resumed.
