Wüstberg

Location and classification

Wüstberg is a named single vineyard in Weinheim on the Badische Bergstraße in the wine-growing region Baden. The site is assigned to the Großlage Weinheimer Rittersberg.

Topography and soil

Historical descriptions place the Wüstberg on the slope of the Judenbuckel. A wine-growing survey from 1909 names sandstone as the soil type of the site.

Vines and wines

For the Wüstberg, Riesling and a Rotburgunder wine are documented historically. The 1909 survey also lists Roten Burgunder.

Historical development

A large part of the historic vineyard area was displaced by residential development. A remaining area was documented as the smallest vineyard of the Weinheimer Rittersberg. Wines from the Wüstberg were presented by the Gräflich von Berckheim’sche holdings and its château cellar, and there, after the First World War, they were expanded and stored.
