Location and Extent
Kiedricher Wasseros is a named vineyard site in Kiedrich in the wine-growing region Rheingau. According to information from the municipality, the site faces south-west and covers approximately 35 hectares. The VDP lists a classified area of 26.30 hectares.
Soils and Name History
The soils are described as shallow-rooting, stony and gravelly, and contain proportions of loess as well as loess loam. The parent material consists of phyllite; locally, medium- to deep-rooting soil profiles occur. The name is linked to springs or to places where water emerges. Historical forms are “waserrunst” from the year 1393 and “Wasserrosse” from the year 1610.
Grape Variety and Wine Style
For Kiedricher Wasseros, Riesling is classified. The wines are characterised as finely grained Rieslings with mineral acidity and good harmony when young. In addition, fruit-focused wines are described with juicy acidity and good fullness.
