Vogelsang

Location and classification

Vogelsang is a registered single vineyard in the Franconian wine-growing region, in the Schwanberger Land area. The official vineyard directory lists the site in Markt Einersheim as well as in Iphofen, in the Ortsteil of Possenheim.

Name and terroir

For wines with the registered designation Vogelsang, Markt Einersheim is given as the name of the municipality. The vineyards around Markt Einersheim lie on Gipskeuper, a gypsum-containing Keuper formation; historic vineyard walls there are also made of Gipskeuper.

Exposure and grape varieties

Parcels in Markt Einersheim’s Vogelsang are described as steep slopes oriented to the south to south-southeast. There grow, among others, Müller-Thurgau, Silvaner, Bacchus, Kerner, Weißer Burgunder, Fontanara, Johanniter, Blauer Spätburgunder, Domina and Regent.

Cultivation and vinification

The cultivation of the parcels is described as environmentally conscious and close to nature. The wines are built around fruit and developed in modern cellars with varietal purity, then bottled in standard bottles or in Bocksbeutel.
