The soils in the Bockenheim portion are described, among other things, as loam, loess, clay-rich material and calcareous marl; a further parcel description mentions calcareous loam-gravel soils with sand seams. The documented wines include dry Frühburgunder and Spätburgunder, as well as sweet Rieslaner and Riesling Beerenauslesen.

Vineyard and winemaking practice

For Vogelsang wines from the Neiss winery, the grapes are selectively hand-harvested. For the single-vineyard wines, a maximum yield of 60 hectolitres per hectare is stated; for the Vogelsang Frühburgunder and Kindenheimer Vogelsang Spätburgunder, around 3,000 litres of wine per hectare are given. The documented Frühburgunder matures for 24 months in barrique. The Kindenheimer Vogelsang Spätburgunder matures for 18 months in French barriques, is bottled unfiltered and released at the earliest in the second year after the harvest.
