Location and classification
Vogelsang is an officially registered single vineyard site in the municipality and cadastral district of Bad Kreuznach in the wine-growing region of Nahe. The site belongs to the Großlage Kronenberg and bears the official site number 510138.
Area and geology
The officially recorded vineyard area covers 18.6 hectares. The Vogelsang terrace lies between around 215 and 228 metres above sea level. The site forms part of a gravel terrace with deposits from the Pleistocene (diluvial) and the Holocene (alluvial); beneath parts of the terrace, an impermeable Rupel claystone (Rupelton) occurs.
Viticulture and wines
A documented viticultural trial at the Kreuznach Vogelsang used a shallow, gravel-rich loam site, partial ground cover, and rootstock 5C. Early Burgundian (Frühburgunder) is documented in a site-designated wine from the State Winegrowing Estate Bad Kreuznach. This is a dry Early Burgundian quality wine.
