Location and Classification
Treuenfels is entered as the official single vineyard of the municipality and cadastral district of Altenbamberg under the identification number 511165. The wine-growing site belongs to the wine-growing region Nahe.
Topography
The single vineyard comprises a slope facing south on the Burgberg near the ruins of Treuenfels. Historic vineyard terraces are documented there.
Historical Designations
A vineyard below “Truwen”, which is identified with Treuenfels, is attested for the years 1370 to 1387. Historical forms of the name are Dreyfelß (1667), treyfelß (1670), Draufelß (1723) and Traubenfels (1772).
Traubenfels designates, in a local reference from 2000, the rear section of the Treuenfels vineyard. Teufelsfels is given there as the front section near the start of Kreisstraße 85.
