Historical vineyard designation
St. Cyriakusstift refers to a historical vineyard designation in today’s Worms district of Neuhausen in Rheinhessen. The official viticultural geodata portal of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate lists “St. Cyriakusstift (Neuhausen)” among the vineyard designations associated with Worms.
Origin of the name
The name goes back to the former St. Cyriakusstift in Neuhausen. It was founded in the year 847 and developed into an important ecclesiastical institution with extensive land holdings.
Historical use
The designation “St. Cyriakusstift” is documented as a historical Worms-Neuhausen vineyard designation, which later disappeared. A historical label identified the wine as a product of the former exclusive vineyard designation “Wormser St. Cyriakusstift”. As the last owner, the wine and sparkling wine cellar Langenbach & Co. GmbH is documented, which was initially based in Worms and later in Trier.
