Wine style and history

A documented Riesling from Naumburger Sonneck shows restrained fruit, notes of apricot and orange peel, as well as a herbaceous, spicy character. It is described as elegantly structured and gains texture from phenolic and acidic components. The Naumburger Sonneck Riesling Zauberlehrling from the winery Pawis was fermented spontaneously, aged in used barriques and left on the lees for an extended period.

The Sonneck/Badehoek estate and its vineyards were used for winegrowing and as a weekend residence up to the middle of the 1970s. Shareholdings were acquired in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by residents from Leipzig.
