Topography and soils

Wines
At Schützenhütte, Riesling is planted. The documented wines include dry and off-dry Rieslings. The regional site profile describes them as initially lean and straight, with ripe, expressive fruit and a medium-strength overall impression.
History of the name
The name Schützenhütte refers to a shelter built on the ruins of the Sackträgerturm tower. A documented Riesling from the 2012 vintage was produced as a dry Qualitätswein and ripened in large wooden casks.
