Location and Classification
The Scharzhofberger Pergentsknopp is located in Wiltingen in the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer wine-growing region in Germany. The site is classified as VDP.GROSSE LAGE®; Riesling is listed as the approved grape variety.
Topography
The classified site covers 5.42 hectares and lies at 216 to 300 metres above sea level. Its exposure ranges from south-southeast to south-southwest, with a slope gradient of 20 to 60 percent.
Site and Soils
The Pergentsknopp is a higher-elevation, exposed and windy plot. The cooler conditions are considered suitable for dry wines. The documented soils are made up of Devonian slate, greywacke, grey slate and red slate.
Historic Plot
Van Volxem describes the Pergentsknopp as a historic plot within the Scharzhofberg with old vines. A dry Riesling is produced from the plot as a Grosses Gewächs.
