Location and Classification
Rosenteich is a single vineyard site in the Nahe wine-growing region. It is assigned to the municipality of Guldental and the cadastral district of Heddesheim. The vineyard site lies between Guldental and Langenlonsheim on the eastern side of the Guldenbach and is situated in a valley shaped by the stream over many millennia.
Relief and Soils
The vineyard parcels are located on hillsides within a valley floor at an altitude of about 140 to 170 metres. The soils include loess marl and sandy loam with a varying gravel content. Deeply weathered, red sandstone-rich material with a proportion of loam is also described, as well as sediments deposited by the Guldenbach, consisting of loess-rich fine material and gravel.
The several metres-deep and comparatively homogeneous soil profile enables extensive root penetration. The deposits are associated with good water and nutrient supply.
Grape Varieties and Wine Style
In Rosenteich, Pinot Blanc (Weißburgunder), Auxerrois and Riesling are planted. For the Guldental Rosenteich, Kerner, Scheurebe and Müller-Thurgau are also documented. The wines are described as full-bodied and powerful in the Burgundy style; from Kerner, Scheurebe and Müller-Thurgau, intense, aromatic wines are produced.
Area
The official vineyard sites directory lists Rosenteich under vineyard site number 510321. For the cadastral district of Heddesheim, 61.1 hectares of planted vineyard area are recorded.
