Vineyard area and wines
The classified area covers 1.04 hectares. The VDP member Toni Jost works with the site. Wines from Martinsthaler Rödchen are associated with a full-bodied profile, pronounced to mineral acidity, and ageing potential.
History of the name
The name Rödchen is either linked to the clearing of land that had previously been forested and rooted in 1115, or to the nuns’ convent of Rode and the former village of Rode, which was later renamed Martinsthal. The Toni Jost winery states that Martinsthaler Rödchen came into its possession around 70 years before the publication of its winery history through marriage and inheritance.
