It lies around the former Vogelsburg monastery on the Eschendorfer Berg, also known as the Vogelsberg. The classified area covers 1.59 hectares and is classified as VDP.ERSTE LAGE®. The site, which faces south to south-east, is at an altitude of 240 to 250 metres and has a slope of 30 to 40 percent. Cultivation and history

The Pforte vineyards are in the sole ownership of the Juliusspital wine estate Würzburg. Organic cultivation began there in the 1960s with the Augustinian sisters and was continued after Juliusspital took over the Vogelsburg estate on 1 January 2011. The wines from the Vogelsburg sites, including the Pforte wines, are produced according to principles of organic viticulture.

Documented wine

For the documented Vogelsburg Pioneer Spirit Cuvée of the 2024 vintage, slow, cool fermentation takes place in stainless steel at 16 to 18 °C for up to 30 days. After that, the wine rests briefly on fine lees in stainless steel before being bottled in a Bocksbeutel. The dry white wine cuvée shows herbal and yellow fruit aromas, as well as hints of muscat and orange blossom; its profile is described as mineral and straight-line.
