Location and Classification
The Peach Orchard is an officially recorded single vineyard in the Ediger-Eller district of the municipality of Ediger-Eller in the Mosel. In the 2024 vineyard register, the site is listed under number 440226 with 7.2 hectares of planted vineyard area and is assigned to the Großlage of Grafschaft. It lies between the districts of Ediger and Eller, directly behind the settlement.
Relief and Soils
The slopes fall away at about 30 to 50 degrees towards the south-west. The lower area is steeper and rockier; smaller vineyard terraces are located there. The soils are described as deep, clay-rich slate weathering soils, which are less stony and richer in nutrients than more strongly rocky sites.
Cultivation and Wines
The terraced lower section requires hand work due to the steep, rocky terrain. At the foot of the Peach Orchard, the vines are farmed on a family basis, including winter pruning, leaf work in summer and hand harvesting in autumn. From this site, Riesling in dry, delicately off-dry and fruit-sweet Spätlese styles, as well as Grauburgunder, are documented.
