Area and soils

The Seckler winery describes the Otterberg as its largest single site. It covers six hectares. The vineyard soils are characterised by weathered Devonian quartzite and slate; in addition, loess and clay deposits are also mentioned.

Grape varieties and wines

For the Waldlaubersheimer Otterberg, wines made from Grüner Silvaner, Portugieser, Spätburgunder, Grauburgunder, Dornfelder, Riesling and Kerner are documented. These include dry quality wine, Portugieser rosé, Spätburgunder Weißherbst and an Auslese. For Riesling and Grauburgunder, bottlings with the designation “Alte Reben” are also documented.
