Location and area
The vineyard-free area lies in the Mansfelder Seen sector of the wine-growing region Saale-Unstrut. For the entry of the three municipal areas, a total of 0.4600 hectares are recorded as at 31 December 2024.

The wine-growing history of the Mansfelder Land traces vineyard areas in Könnern as part of the areas that were included in the expansion of the Mansfelder Seen wine-growing sector after 1990.
