Laurentiusberg

Location and classification

The Laurentiusberg is an officially listed single-vineyard site in Wallhausen in the wine-growing region Nahe. In the official register of wine-growing sites, the site is listed under number 510229 and, for the 2024 harvest, comprises a planted vineyard area of 6.0 hectares.

Topography and climate

The Laurentiusberg is described as a steep vineyard site oriented to the south to south-west, and as one of the local hillside sites of Wallhausen. The vineyards of Wallhausen lie in the rain shadow of the Hunsrück and are protected from cold north-westerly winds by the Soonwald heights as well as by higher-lying forest areas. The municipality describes the resulting climate as mild.

Geological framework

Wallhausen lies in the area of the Hunsrück southern boundary fault. It separates Devonian rocks from the Rotliegend formations of the Saar-Nahe basin.

Documented wines

From the Laurentiusberg, wines of Riesling and Sylvaner, Scheurebe, as well as Sauvignon Blanc are documented. These include a Riesling-and-Sylvaner wine, a Scheurebe as a Kabinett and a dry Sauvignon Blanc from the 2024 vintage. The evidence thus covers several wine styles.
