Location and classification
Laurentiusberg is a legally registered wine-growing area in the municipality and cadastral district of Altenbamberg in the Nahe region. It belongs to the Nahetal area and to the Großlage Burgweg.
Wine law information
Laurentiusberg is listed as a single vineyard (Einzellage) under vineyard number 511102. In the 2024 vineyard directory, 5.6 hectares of planted vineyard area are indicated.
Historical development
A municipal account reports that, at the time of its documentation, the vineyards in the area of Laurentiusberg were for the most part no longer being cultivated. In addition, part of the Maiwald district, which had previously been planted with chestnut trees, was sold in 1894.
Sauvignon Blanc
Weingut Steigerhof documents Sauvignon Blanc from Laurentiusberg. The dry wine is described as having pronounced fruity and aromatic notes of exotic fruits, gooseberry, elderflower blossom and green bell pepper. For production, a long maceration period at very cold, reductive conditions is specified.
