Location and Landscape
The Krone vineyard is located in the vineyards directly outside Prichsenstadt in the wine-growing region Franken in Germany. The site is described as a sunny south-facing slope of Prichsenstadt.
Geology and Classification
The Prichsenstadter Krone is situated in a geologically disturbed zone, in which Muschelkalk occurs with Keuper inclusions. Krone is listed as the name of the vineyard for Prichsenstadt in the Steigerwald wine panorama and is classified as belonging to the large area category without specific classification.
Wines and Farming
As single-vineyard wines, Silvaner, Kerner and Rieslaner are documented; there is also a Rotling. A Silvaner Kabinett, a Kerner Kabinett, a Rieslaner Kabinett described as sweetish, and a dry Rotling are confirmed.
A winemaker who farms vines in the Prichsenstadter Krone works without herbicides, uses only organic fertiliser and uses cover cropping to promote biodiversity.
