Location and classification
Königsgarten is a vineyard site in Feilbingert in the wine-growing region Nahe. The site lies on the south-facing slope of the Lemberg and is described by the municipality as Feilbingert’s largest vineyard site. Königsgarten is a named single-vineyard site and belongs to the Großlage Paradiesgarten.
Topography and soils
The vineyard site stretches along a hillside with a south-easterly and south-westerly orientation at around 280 to 350 metres above sea level. The soils are described as sandy loam, slate, and sandstone.
Climate and wine style
Thanks to its elevated and exposed position, Königsgarten receives sunlight earlier than vineyards in nearby rivers and streams. The Lemberg sites, to which Königsgarten belongs, are associated with racy, healthy white wines. The municipal description also clearly mentions distinctly fruity and slender wines.
Grape varieties and history
For the Feilbingerter Königsgarten, Riesling, Scheurebe, and Bacchus are documented. The name of the site, Feilbingerter Königsgarten, is also listed on a historical wine-growing map of the Nahe from 1901.
