Historical Viticulture

In Tauberrettersheim, winegrowing has been documented for at least since 1225. A tax register from 1610 recorded 46 winegrowing families. Between 1550 and 1600, the vineyards were also extended to the north-facing slopes. Around 1800, there were roughly 112 hectares of vine area, which decreased to about 20 hectares by 1935; from 1970 and 1979, land consolidation and rebuilding followed. The name Königin is documented as the designation of the Tauberrettersheim single vineyard site, based on its classification within the wine-growing region Franken.
