Location
The König vineyard location is in Diefenbach, a district of the municipality Sternenfels in Württemberg. It is documented as the single-vineyard site “Diefenbacher König”.
Topography and soils
The vineyards are on sunny slopes. Part of them is a viewpoint high above the Diefenbach vineyards. The site is planted on Keuper soils.
Grape varieties and wine
In Diefenbacher König, among other varieties, Lemberger, Trollinger, Schwarzriesling, Spätburgunder, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscateller, Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay, Samtrot and Muskattrollinger are grown. As wine from the site, a dry red wine cuvée made from Trollinger and Lemberger is documented.
Cultivation
The site is farmed by the Diefenbach winegrowers as well as private wineries, including Weingut Häußermann and Weingut Landesvatter.
