In addition, Chardonnay and further Burgunder varieties from Kirschwingert, as well as Riesling from another producer, are also mentioned. One producer additionally documented a dry Neu-Bamberger Kirschwingert Merlot from the 2012 vintage. The red wine had 13.5% alcohol, 0.4 grams per litre of residual sugar and 4.0 grams per litre of acid; it was dark violet with soft tannins and was matured in barrique.

Name

The name Kirschwingert is traced back to a historical misspelling of Kirchwingert and is associated with former ecclesiastical ownership.
