Kasselberg

Location and Landscape

The Kasselberg is a named single vineyard in Durbach in Baden and is one of the eleven single vineyards of the town. The vineyard site is extremely steep and is predominantly oriented to the south.

Soil and Cultivation

The Kasselberg has a very hard, weathered granite soil. In the 1990s, the site was terraced across in a two-year project. Today, Weingut Vollmer cultivates the very steep single vineyard.

Grape Varieties and Wines

In the Kasselberg, Riesling, Weißburgunder and Grauburgunder are planted. For the Riesling, dry Kabinett and dry Spätlese wines are documented. The dry wines are fermented completely; no sweet reserve is used during maturation. Wines from the Kasselberg are further matured.
