Location and classification

Kapellchen is a single vineyard in Minheim on the Mosel and belongs to the Großlage Michelsberg. In the official directory of wine-growing sites, the site is listed under number 410403. The 2024 issue records 44.4 hectares of vine-covered vineyard area.

Natural region and climate

The vineyard areas in the Minheim municipal area are described as facing south and gently sloping. The slopes contain Devonian slate at different stages of weathering; in the floodplains, sandy river deposits also occur. As a Mosel island oriented to the south, Minheim records warm days and cool nights during ripening, along with sufficient rainfall and sunshine.

Wine and cultivation

A documented bottling from 2023 is a Riesling Kabinett feinherb from the Bollig-Fischer winery, with 10.5% alcohol, 31 g/l residual sugar and 8 g/l total acidity. In the Minheim municipal area, the RAK confusion method is used comprehensively to control grapevine moths. A business listed with ECOVIN farms parcels in Kapellchen and states that it has been carrying out organic viticulture since 2004.
