Immengarten

Location and classification

Immengarten is a registered single vineyard site in the municipality and in the winegrowing region Maikammer in the Pfalz. In the official register of wine-growing sites for 2024, the site bears the wine-growing site number 810506 and is assigned to the Großlage Mandelhöhe. For Immengarten, 8.0 hectares of planted vineyard area are recorded.

Topography and history

Immengarten lies on a gently east-facing slope. The east orientation was historically attributed to an early morning sun for beehives. The name of the site is linked to the former beekeeping operation; the Immengarten Hof winery building was erected on the vineyard in 1894.

Soils and cultivation

For the site, calcareous soil structures as well as loam and loess soils are described. The vineyards of the Immengarten Hof are, according to its information, farmed without herbicides and mineral fertilisers; to nourish the soil, herb-rich ground cover is used.

Documented wine style

Immengarten has a Spätburgunder documented. The 2023 vintage was bottled as a dry German Qualitätswein from the Pfalz with 13.5 % vol. It is described as having red and dark fruit, fine tannin and a cool finish. The wine matured for two years and was aged in wood.
