Location and classification
Hildegardisbrünnchen is a single vineyard in the Bingerbrück district of Bingen am Rhein. It belongs to the wine-growing region Nahe and to the large-scale vineyard Schlosskapelle. In the official vineyard directory, it is listed under number 510302.
Topography and soils
The terraced site lies near the confluence of the Nahe and the Rhine, below the Binger Mäuseturm and opposite Ehrenfels Castle. Beneath the vines there are variegated slate and slate and quartzite rock.
Vines and history
Old vines of Riesling and Ehrenfelser grow on the site. According to the operator, it is in his sole possession. Historically, the area belonged to Rupertsberg Abbey, which is associated with the holy Hildegard of Bingen; the current site is described as the successor to these historical abbey vineyards.
Documented wine style
A documented Ehrenfelser from the 2024 vintage from the Bingerbrück Hildegardisbrünnchen is classified as quality wine from Nahe and as sweet (lieblich). The wine is described as having the character of ripe yellow fruits.
