Location
Herrenberg is a vineyard site of Briedern on the middle Moselle in the Cochemer Krampen. Briedern belongs to the Mosel wine region and to the Terrassenmosel.
Landscape and soils
The vineyard landscape is shaped by steep slopes and small terraces on which vines are cultivated. The area lies in the Rhenish Slate Mountains and features sedimentary rocks such as silt and clay slate, which locally contain proportions of quartz, carbonate and sandstone.
Viticulture
The cultivation of the steep, terraced plots is labour-intensive. In Briedern’s vineyards, Riesling is the dominant white grape variety, followed by Müller-Thurgau, Kerner, Weißburgunder and Grauburgunder; in addition, Dornfelder and Spätburgunder are grown.
