Location and site
The Köwericher Held is a named vineyard site and also a local area in Köwerich on the Mosel. The flat site is located near the Mosel river and has gravelly soils. A high water table is also documented for the vineyard.
Vines and wines
Among other varieties, Riesling and Dornfelder are grown in the Köwericher Held. The documented vine plots include plants aged up to 60 years. From this site come dry as well as feinherb or semi-sweet Rieslings and Riesling ice wine.
Sparkling wines
The Köwericher Held was also used for Riesling sparkling wine b. A. in brut. A Riesling sparkling wine from the site is produced using bottle fermentation; a Köwericher Held Riesling Crémant is produced using traditional bottle fermentation.
