Halde

Location and classification

Halde, also known as Weisenheimer Halde, is a single vineyard site south of Weisenheim am Sand. In the official vineyards register, it is listed in the area of Mittelhaardt/Deutsche Weinstraße and within the larger site Rosenbühl. The register dated 15 October 2024 shows a planted area of 62.9 hectares.

Origin of the name

The name Halde goes back to the Middle High German terms “halde” or “helde”, which refer to steeply sloping or gently falling terrain.

Documented wine

For the 2014 vintage, a dry white wine with the designation Weisenheimer Halde is documented. The wine was made from Chardonnay and showed indications of ageing in barrique.
