Location and classification
Gutleuthaus is a legally registered vineyard site in the municipality of Oppenheim in the wine-growing region Rheinhessen. The vineyard directory of Rhineland-Palatinate lists the site under the larger vineyard area Güldenmorgen with the vineyard site number 720308. The planted area is less than one hectare.
Historical designation
A survey by the Imperial Health Office from the years 1909 to 1910 names Gutleuthaus as one of the vineyard sites of Oppenheim. The name is also connected with a medieval hospital for people with leprosy, which is first documented in 1297 or 1308. A gatehouse built in 1589 is preserved in the vineyard area outside the city walls.
Documented wines
From the exact site, a Gutleuthaus Riesling Sekt from the winery Bürgermeister Carl Koch is documented. The Oppenheim Gutleuthaus Monopol is listed as a Pas-Dosé Sekt.
