Location and classification

Goldgrube is an officially registered Nahe single-vineyard site in the municipalities of Hüffelsheim and Rüdesheim in the Nahe. In the 2024 vineyard register, it is listed in both municipal districts under registration number 511420 as a quality winegrowing site designation.

Area and site

The directory records 2.4 hectares in Hüffelsheim and 56.7 hectares in Rüdesheim, for a total of 59.1 hectares. The vineyards face south-east and west; the slope gradient reaches up to 30 percent. A described vineyard profile cites all-day sunshine and a very warm local climate.

Soils

For Rüdesheim’s Goldgrube, red clay and siltstone from the Oberrotliegend are listed. Another profile additionally names gravelly sand, loam, loess-loam, loess and sandstone from the Oberrotliegend.

Grape varieties and wine style

In this site, Riesling, Scheurebe, Ortega, Pinot Gris and Portugieser are grown. Rieslings can show distinct aromas of apple, peach and apricot, as well as an early, well-present fruit acidity, extract, elegance and a playful character. Botrytis wines from the site can develop spicy and herbal notes and continue to develop over many years.
