Mittelheimer Goldberg
The Goldberg is the legally registered single vineyard Mittelheimer Goldberg in the Oestrich-Winkel district of Mittelheim, in the wine-growing region Oestrich-Winkel. For quality wine with a site designation, the name of the municipality or the district is also to be stated.
Site and soils
The south-facing slope lies at about 150 to 200 metres above sea level. It is characterised by deep loess soils and stony loess loams.
Grape varieties and wine style
Documented Riesling and Pinot Noir come from the Mittelheimer Goldberg. The wines are described as having pronounced, piquant acidity, a interplay of fruit and acidity, and a harmonious, light character. The name Goldberg is explained by the winegrowers’ appreciation of the site and the value of their grape yields.
Sparkling wine
A documented Sekt from the Mittelheimer Goldberg is produced using traditional bottle fermentation and aged on the lees for 48 months. It is made from equal parts Pinot Noir and Riesling.
