Wachenheimer Goldbächel is classified as VDP.ERSTE LAGE® and covers a classified area of 3.39 hectares. After fermentation with the must, the wine matured for twelve months in small oak barrels.

Name history and style

The name Goldbächel has been documented since the middle of the 19th century and is associated with a reported find of gold coins. „Bächel“ derives from „Bach“ in the sense of a small body of water. The Goldbächel Spätburgunder is described as powerful and at the same time elegant, with berry, coffee, mocha, liquorice, blackberry and raspberry notes, integrated tannins and potential for ageing.
