Location and Context
Geißberg is an officially registered vineyard site in Wiesenbronn in the Franconian wine-growing region Franken. The vineyard lies at the foot of the Schwanberg in the hilly landscape of the Steigerwald.
Topography and Geology
The documented exposure of the site is south-west. The average slope has a gradient of about 25 percent; geologically, Geißberg is assigned to the Keuper.
Area and History
For the year 2019, a vineyard area of approximately 10 hectares is documented. Geißberg is one of the historic vineyard names in the area of Wiesenbronn and is marketed today as Wiesenbronner Geißberg.
Grape Varieties and Wines
Silvaner is documented as the most important grape variety for the site. In wines with the designation Wiesenbronner Geißberg, Grauer Burgunder, Riesling and Scheurebe are also evidenced. Documented are dry Silvaner, Grauer Burgunder Spätlese and Scheurebe Spätlese.
