Fürstenberg

Location and classification

Fürstenberg is an officially registered single-vineyard site in Oberdiebach in the wine-growing region Mittelrhein, the Loreley area and large site Schloß Stahleck. The official wine sites directory lists 14.7 hectares of planted vineyard area.

Site

The Oberdiebach Fürstenberg lies on a south-facing slope at between 120 and 160 metres above sea level. The slope gradient is 50 to 60 percent. Devonian slate is documented as the bedrock and soil type.

Climate and grape variety

According to the VDP, the Mittelrhein vineyard zone between Oberdiebach and Spay is one of the warmer wine regions in Germany; temperatures of over 25 °C are reached on up to 50 days per year. For the Oberdiebach Fürstenberg, Riesling is designated as the classified grape variety.

Classification

The VDP lists the Oberdiebach Fürstenberg as VDP.ERSTE LAGE® with a classified area of 2.00 hectares. Toni Jost is named as the VDP winery for the site. This VDP classification is to be distinguished from the statutory single-vineyard designation and the area recorded in the wine sites directory.
