Location and geography
Frauenberg is a vineyard site in the Mauchen district of the municipality of Schliengen in the Markgräflerland in the Baden wine-growing region Baden. The slopes, which face south-west to south-east, have an inclination of 10 to 40 percent. The classified plots lie at an altitude of about 300 to 340 metres.
Soils and grape varieties
The soils are described as calcareous loess loam and marl; the geological profile mentions marlstone. For the Mauchener Frauenberg, a subsoil of Jurassic limestone with conglomerate rock and loam is also given. The classified area covers 3.27 hectares. The following are grown on the site: Riesling, Spätburgunder, Chardonnay, Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder and Gewürztraminer.

Frauenberg, Mauchen is classified in Baden as VDP.GROSSE LAGE®. Documented wines by Lämmlin-Schindler include Chardonnay, Riesling and Spätburgunder as VDP.GROSSE LAGE respectively Grosses Gewächs. A documented Frauenberg Chardonnay from the 2023 vintage is a dry white wine with 13 percent alcohol, 5.2 grams of acidity and 1.7 grams of residual sugar, shaped by ageing in wooden barrels.
