Forst in der Nahe

Forst is a legally recognised single vineyard (Einzellage) in the wine-growing region Nahe and is linked with Bad Kreuznach. The site is entirely sloping and faces south to south-east.

Soil and history

For the Kreuznacher Forst, loam and loess have been documented. A parcel in Gemünden is described as sandy loam with an increased proportion of clay over weathered Rotliegend rock. The name refers to an earlier forestation; as a vineyard, Forst has been documented since 1550.

Wines

From the Kreuznacher Forst, wines including Riesling, Weissburgunder, Blauer Portugieser and Dornfelder have been documented. The site is associated with robust wines and a clearly pronounced acidity. A documented dry Riesling is a Nahe quality wine with a deep, loam-based profile, ripe fruit, freshness and pronounced acidity.
