Location and Classification
Felseneck is a registered single vineyard site in the cadastral district of Bad Münster am Stein in the municipality of Bad Kreuznach in the Nahe. The Großlage is Burgweg. Wine-growing plot number 511106 is assigned to the site in the official wine-growing sites register.
Topography and Soil
The vineyard lies to the west of a projecting rock near Bad Münster am Stein. The area, around 0.77 hectares in size, is entirely planted on a steep slope with south-westerly to southerly exposure. The soil consists of strongly stony, gravelly slope loam over rhyolite and is also referred to as porphyry soil.
Climate and Cultivation
The site is described as having particularly favourable climatic conditions within the Nahe. Felseneck is documented as the sole property of the Jung winery. The current planting comprises 60% Riesling, 35% Pinot Blanc and 5% Scheurebe.
History and Wines
The name Felseneck has been documented for the vineyards since 1830. Documented wines from the site include dry, finely off-dry and sweet Riesling Spätlesen as well as dry and finely off-dry Pinot Blanc Kabinett wines and a finely off-dry Scheurebe Kabinett wine.
