Location and classification
Fächern is a vineyard site in the municipal and cadastral district of Niederfell on the Mosel. The single vineyard site belongs to the Mosel wine-growing region and to the Burg Cochem area. In the wine sites register 2024, 6.4 hectares of vines are listed.
Terraces and history
Fächern is documented as an old terraced vineyard site and was formerly called Grub. The terraces are made of slate.
Cultivation
Parcels in Fächern are cultivated on the steep slope with limited use of machinery, which means that significantly more manual work is required than in flat vineyards. Documented practices also include finely ground rock meals and plant extracts, mowing of the undergrowth, and the return of green trimmings, vine prunings and crushed grape pomace to improve the soil. No further fertilisers are used.

Wine from Fächern is documented as Riesling. The varieties cultivated in Fächern by a grower include Riesling and Spätburgunder. A documented Riesling from Fächern was bottled as Qualitätswein in the feinherb style, that is, not dry.
