The Engelsberg, also known as the Offsteiner Engelsberg, is a single vineyard site in Offstein. It belongs to the Wonnegau sub-region and to the Domblick grand cru in Rheinhessen.

Topography and soils

The vineyard site lies at around 135 to 145 metres above sea level and is oriented to the south to south-west. The documented area comprises 131 hectares. The soil consists of loess over pararendzina and is described as calcareous, deep, light loam with clayey silt and good water storage that is available to plants.

Grape varieties and wine style

The Riesling and Weißburgunder grape varieties are documented for the Engelsberg. The wines associated with the site are described as having notes of yellow fruit, along with hints of apple, peach, pear and citrus. They show a gentle acidity and medium structure.

Historical name

The name of the site is attested in 1820. The regional classification traces it back to an old German personal name.
