Bopparder Hamm
Elfenley is one of the individually cultivated vineyard plots in the Bopparder Hamm. The wine-growing site complex lies on the Rhine arc near Boppard. The slopes facing south benefit from the heat stored by the Rhine and are protected from the prevailing western and eastern influences. The vineyard sites are associated with soils rich in slate.
Delimitation and wine
In 2025, the boundaries of the protected single vineyard site Elfenley were adjusted following a review of the wine-growing sites directory, the EU vineyard area details, and the delimitation of the protected designation of origin; during this process, plots were added to the wine-growing site.
In a documented wine tasting, a Riesling from the Elfenley site was served. It was blended with Riesling from Mandelstein because the grapes came from a young planting affected by drought stress.
