Location
Edelberg is a named wine-growing area in Enkirch on the Mosel. It lies in the northern part of the village towards Burg and can be reached via the road Am Edelberg.
Relief and soils
The vineyard site is relatively flat to gently rising. The specified slope gradients are around 0 to 30 per cent. The soils are described as deep and clay-influenced, and contain slate as well as quartzite.
Grape varieties and use
Edelberg is used in particular for the production of red wine and for the cultivation of Rivaner. Also documented are Pinot Blanc, Auxerrois and Regent. Rivaner is also known by the name Müller-Thurgau.
Wine character and classification
Wines from Edelberg are described as harmonious and floral, with a slight note of muscat. The site is listed in the Rhineland-Palatinate directory of wine-growing areas, as at harvest 2024, as the official wine-growing area designation for Enkirch.
