Location
Eckberg is a registered single vineyard site in the municipality of Bötzingen in the Kaiserstuhl. It belongs to the Kaiserstuhl area and to the Großlage Vulkanfelsen within the wine-growing region Baden.
Climate and soils
Bötzingen has a heat-favoured climate with an average annual temperature of around 9.9 °C and an average annual precipitation of around 740 mm. The vineyard slopes outside the local cold-air basin are warmer with a south and south-west orientation than with an eastern or northern exposure. For Eckberg, a combination of loess and volcanic weathering material is described.
Varieties and wines
At Eckberg, Grauburgunder and Spätburgunder are documented. The documented wines include Grauburgunder Spätlese and Spätburgunder Spätlese. On a plot in the Gewann Eckberg/Seiler, Müller-Thurgau vines were documented in 2026 that were planted in 2003. The row spacing is 1.70 metres; the site has a machine-readable metal trellis system.
