Location and Geography
Ebenrain is a small vineyard site in Lindelbach, a district of Wertheim, about 9 kilometres from Wertheim. The site is located on a hill above Urphar and has a south-south-westerly aspect. It lies at an altitude of around 267 to 299 metres.
Soil and Cultivation
The geology of Ebenrain consists entirely of shell limestone. The Spielmann family has been farming the vines there for four generations.
Wine
For Ebenrain, Pinot Noir is documented. The dry red wine is marketed under the name Tauberfranken, Wertheim (Baden). The 2021 bottling has 0.0 grams of residual sugar per litre and 13.0 per cent alcohol. It was fermented spontaneously, matured for 24 months in French oak barriques, and bottled unfiltered with a proportion of 50 per cent new barriques. In the vineyard, it is listed as Ebenrain declassified.
